I am one of 17 participants in Middle Georgia State University's Design on the Edge 2024 juried exhibition. This poster was a response to the theme of “design on the edge,” which reflects our liminal cultural moment of social tension, political upheaval, ecological threat, and disruptive opportunity.

Artist Statement

Isabel’s investigations into internet culture and communities resulted in this poster, an attempt to visualize the expanding and evolving lexicon of the chronically online. As more of our existence occurs and relies on online spaces, we’ve tipped towards collect derangement – we don’t know who to believe, what to believe, or why we believe it. Mariah Kreutter writes, “It’s easy to forget how to talk to a person, because you’re not talking to a person: you’re Replying.” At what point does our online existence end and our physical existence start?
